Look your best
The Prism theme helps you to build a custom looking website in no time. It features tons of amazing headers, along with a multitude of header slideshow options, including the ability to use the RapidWeaver 5 resources for your header slideshow.
The Prism theme includes five different ExtraContent areas to help you break out of the normal RapidWeaver mold a bit.
It also features an awesome, yet simple, drop down navigation menu that will let your visitors easily maneuver their way around your site.
We’re happy to continue innovating by presenting our second theme that features Blog Entry Thumbnails. This is something that is seen quite often on WordPress built sites, so we wanted to bring that goodness to the RapidWeaver platform as well.
We’ve made it simple and easy to use. Once you see it in action and use it, you’ll probably wonder why it hasn’t been done before. Learn to use it in our Prism tutorial videos.
Tutorials and more
Here are some tutorials and walk through videos to show off some of the amazing features of the Prism theme.
Take a few minutes to watch them, and be sure to bookmark this page so you can come back and reference them when you’re building your own site with Prism.
We take great pride in offering professionally crafted headers for our themes, and the Prism theme is no different. Prism ships with 35 different header styles, along with 7 different built-in header slideshow options. We also ship a snippet with the Prism theme that will allow you to create your own slideshows using RapidWeaver 5’s wonderful Resources.
Don’t need a header? That’s fine too. We offer a theme variation which will allow you to toggle it off.
Each and every stock header that ships with Prism is editable with RWmultitool.
In addition to all of these options we’ve also added two more slideshow variations types for the Prism theme. You can now choose what type of animation you’d like to have for your slideshow (11 different animations) as well as how long each slide should be displayed (5-10 seconds).
You can place the sidebar on either the right- or left-hand side of your project. You can also hide it altogether if you like.
The sidebar goes away, hiding itself, when the width of the theme drops down to either 690 or 590 px.
Prism has 6 different site background styles. Three light versions and three dark. Depending on whether you choose a light background or a dark one, other elements of the theme are smart enough to change to fit the overall look of the site. Dark background? No problem. Shadows darken, slideshow nav dots change, menu borders lighten up, etc.
Prism offers you 5 different width options, ranging from 990 to 590 px in size. The 690 and 590 widths, as stated in the Sidebar section, automatically hide the sidebar to maximize the usability of those widths.
You can use the RapidWeaver color picker to quickly and easily modify the following areas of the theme:
• Site title
• Site slogan
• ExtraContent area 1 - text color
• ExtraContent area 2 - text color
• ExtraContent area 2 - text color
• ExtraContent area 4 - text color
• ExtraContent area 4 - background color
• ExtraContent area 5 - text color
• Footer links
• Current menu item text
You can choose your font type for both the site title and slogan, as well as adjust their size.
For the site title you can choose from the following fonts:
• Georgia (italic)
• Lucida Grande
• Museo Slab
• Museo Sans
The sizes available for the title are: 42, 36 and 30 px
For the slogan you can use:
• Georgia (non-italic)
• Lucida Grande
• Museo Sans
The sizes available for the slogan are: 18, 16 and 14 px
In the past we’ve made it a habit of dressing up the RapidWeaver blog page to make your blog stand out, using icons in the archives and blog entries and even creating little blog badges for the entries themselves. Well the Prism theme is no different. We’re happy to introduce our second theme using a new feature we developer for the blog entries that we call Blog Entry Thumbnails.
Blog Entry Thumbnails are a super easy to use and really add some personality to your site and blog.
Checkout our walk through video above in the Tutorials section to see what they look like and learn quickly how use them.
We’ve provided you the ability to also toggle on and off the icons in the sidebar archives section on the blog page.
The site logo is located to the left of the site title and slogan when is use on this theme. The dimensions for the logo are 128 x 128 px in size.
Prism also allows you to hide the site logo on a page-by-page basis.
We’ve packed the Prism theme with 5 different ExtraContent areas that we think you’re going to love.
ExtraContent area 1
This one is located just below the header and above the main content of the site.
ExtraContent area 2
This is a partner to EC area 1. It is located directly below the main content area, just above the footer.
ExtraContent area 3
Located in the footer of the site. It is great for big footers and pairs really well with the columns snippets!
ExtraContent area 4
This ExtraContent area is pretty special. It resides at the very top of the site’s page and is hidden away. The user reveals the EC4 area by clicking a tab that hangs down from the top of the site. You can choose from a variety of different tab styles as well.
ExtraContent area 5
This may be the best of the bunch. It is actually an overlay that resides on top of the header images / slideshows. It is a fixed height ExtraContent area. We offer a variety of different translucent backgrounds for the ExtraContent 5 area as well as an option that will let your visitors hide the ExtraContent 5 area. When EC5 has content in it, the slideshow arrows get disabled.
Be sure to check out out live preview site to see all of the ExtraContent areas in action!
Prism comes with snippets that are easy in install and use for:
• Advanced slideshow using RW5 Resources
Prism also ships with a plugin for use with Stacks that lets you use ExtraContent on your Stacks pages.
We give you the ability to choose how you’d like the corners of your header as well as content containers to look. You can have square corners, or have corners with a radius of 4, 6 or 8 px.
As always older browsers like IE 7 and IE 8 do not support rounded corners so your visitors using those two, older browsers will simply see square corners.
Prism comes with two Photo Album styles. One option is to use RapidWeaver’s built in gallery style, which provides a page of photos that when clicked on take you to a new page with the larger photo.
The other option is to have the RapidWeaver photo album work as a lightbox page. For those unfamiliar with the notion of lightbox, it is when you click on an small image and then have the larger image appear, floating on top of the page with a faded out website in the background.
Our themes support a wide variety of web browsers. We test each theme in these modern browsers to make sure that your sites will look good, and function properly. We highly suggest Safari on the Mac and PC as it is one of the most standards compliant browsers on the market today.
