Make mine modern
We’ve incorporated a series of new features in this theme that we think will be a huge benefit to you and your site’s visitors. These new features are designed for the modern browsers that your visitors are using, such as Safari, Chrome, FireFox and Internet Explorer 8 and 9.
We’ve also worked in some features that will re-orient your site’s display a little to make it more easily accessed on popular mobile platforms like the iPad and the iPhone. In an effort to bring you these great new features we’ve tested this theme in the aforementioned modern browsers to make sure they’ll work great for you and your visitors.
Here are some tutorials and walk through videos to show off some of the amazing features found in this theme. They’re meant to explain and instruct you in using some of the newest features as well.
I encourage you to take a few minutes to watch them, and be sure to bookmark this page so you can come back and reference them when you’re building your own sites.
This theme contains 21 built-in banner images that can be used to top your site. It also comes with 6 different built-in slideshows.
Feeling confident in your site building and RapidWeaver skills? Use our custom slideshow or custom banner snippets. These snippets allow you to use RapidWeaver 5’s Resources section to populate the banner area with your own custom images. Be sure to watch the tutorial, above, to learn how to actually use these features.
You can choose from some nice animation styles, as well as pause durations, for your slideshows as well.
Something else to note is that this theme is compatible with RWmultitool, which allows you to edit the included stock banner images as well!
Along with all these great options you can also hide any, or all of these, on a page-by-page basis: the site title, slogan and logo.
The banner / slideshow is turned off by default.
The sidebar can be placed on the right- or left-hand side of the content container, or hidden altogether. The default for this sidebar option is hidden.
Included in this theme are 12 different tiling backgrounds. They really help to give your site a nice look and feel by adding some texture as well as helping to make your content really shine. We’ve specifically chosen backgrounds that will work well with the fixed navigation on this theme as well as ones that will make the content standout.
We’ve created this theme to be very flexible, and one of the main things that helps with flexibility is varying widths. Included are 9 width variations for the content container. They range from 500 to 900 px in size.
The sidebar automatically gets hidden for widths 500 to 650 px in size as to give you an optimum amount of space for your content.

This theme’s blog options feature the same wonderfully innovative Blog Entry Topper feature that was introduced in the Crisp and Cafe theme. You can to place large images above the title of your blog posts quite easily with this great feature, which is similar to that found in many other platforms like WordPress, ExpressionEngine and Tumblr.
By simply changing the alt tag of an image you can place an image at the top of each individual post. For details on using this feature you will need to watch the tutorial covering the Blog Entry Topper in the tutorials section above.
We think you’re really going to love this feature as it will add a lot of personality and flexibility to your site and blog!
The site logo feature in this theme is a big focus point of the theme. It is placed on the left-hand side of the site, right above the site title and slogan and the main site navigation. It, along with the aforementioned other items are locked in place. When your user scroll through the pages of your site, you logo, title, slogan and navigation stick in place.
The width of your logo image can be no wider than 250px wide. The height can vary, but do realize that your title, slogan and navigation will be below this logo. Our suggestion would be to size your logo image to 250 x 250 px. We also suggest, if possible, using a logo image with a transparent background (a PNG image file) to help it blend in with your site design, as you can see we’ve done in the live preview site.
The logo can be toggled on and off on a page-by-page basis. You set the logo image up in the RapidWeaver Site Setup.
We’ve built this theme to use 4 different ExtraContent areas. The first two, ExtraContent areas 1 and 2, are located at the top of the theme. You can display content in either area 1 or 2 individually. If you place content in both area 1 and 2 on the same page, the theme smartly arranges it so that they get located side-by-side. We’ve also included an option that let’s you specify the way in which they’re divided. We encourage you to watch the ExtraContent tutorial video above in the tutorials section to see how this works and see what it offers you! The ExtraContent area one’s background and text colors, along with ExtraContent area 2’s text, can be changed via the color picker.
The ExtraContent area 3 is located at the top of the content container. It has a few options to choose from for a background texture as well as its background color can be chosen via the color picker.
ExtraContent area 4 is toward the bottom of the content container, just above the breadcrumb trail and the footer.
Included with this theme are RapidWeaver Code Snippets for social badges, custom banner images, custom slideshows, and ExtraContent areas. Check out all of the informative tutorials above to learn how to use these various snippets.
* jQuery is built right into this theme to power many of the great options of this theme
In the special section of the theme variations you’re given the option to turn on and off a few unique features for this theme. Here’s a quick rundown of those:
Back to the Top Button
As user scrolls down long pages a button appears in the bottom right corner of the site. Clicking it returns the user to the top of the page quickly and easily, with a nice animated scroll.
Photo Album LightBox
After building a photo album page with your images, enable this option for that page. Now, when a user clicks one of your images the image will zoom up and have a nice background overlay applied to your page.
Show Footer Logo
Adds a smaller version of your site logo to the footer of the site along with your site’s name and footer info.
Remove sub navigation
Hides the sub navigation bar at the top of any page that would have one.
We offer a series of snippets that come with your purchase that allow you to place very stylish social badges at the bottom of your site design in the footer area and link to some of the most used social media sites. Included with this theme are badges for: Twitter, Facebook, Google Plus, the AppStore, Dribbble, Flickr, LinkedIN, Vimeo, YouTube, Skype and Forrst. The area in which these images area placed is limited based on the width you choose in the theme variations for your content area. Too many badges can be a bad thing in a limited space.
This theme has a built-in FAQ. This feature let’s you get quick answers to your questions. Chances are if you’ve got a question, others have had the same thought as well, and this is where you’ll find your answers. You must be connected to the internet to access the FAQ via the theme variations in the Page Inspector.
Our themes support a wide variety of web browsers. We test each theme in these modern browsers to make sure that your sites will look good, and function properly. We highly suggest Safari on the Mac and PC as it is one of the most standards compliant browsers on the market today.
