Dressed for success
The Crisp theme helps you to build a beautiful, custom website. It features a large number of stock headers, along with several header slideshow options, including the ability to use the RapidWeaver 5 resources for a custom header slideshow.
Break the mold
Crisp includes three different ExtraContent areas to help you break out of the normal RapidWeaver mold.
It also features an awesome, yet simple, drop down navigation menu that will let your visitors easily maneuver their way around your site.
Think different
We’re happy to continue innovating by presenting our first theme that features Blog Entry Topper. This is something that is seen quite often on WordPress and Tumblr built sites, so we wanted to bring that functionality to a new RapidWeaver theme.
We’ve made it simple and easy to use. Once you see it in action and use it, you’ll probably wonder why it hasn’t been done before. Learn to use it in our Crisp tutorial videos, located to the right.
We’ve also included a great new way to keep your Crisp theme up to date. Be sure to watch the Version Checker video located to the right in the Tutorials section.
Tutorials and more
Here are some tutorials and walk through videos to show off some of the amazing features found in the Crisp theme. They’re meant to explain and instruct you in using some of the newest features as well.
I encourage you to take a few minutes to watch them, and be sure to bookmark this page so you can come back and reference them when you’re building your own site with Crisp.
Features
Header
This theme offers two areas that might be considered headers. We’ve differentiated them in this theme by calling one the banner / slideshow area, and the other background accent.
The banner / slideshow area is what is traditionally referred to as the header. It is the place that you can use our built-in header images and slideshows, as well as the area where your custom slideshows will show up.
The background accent area is the place where you can choose to display some of our stylish graphics to layer behind the site title.
We offer 30 banner images, 5 being blanks, along with 6 stock slideshow choices. We also allow you the ability to hide the banner / slideshow altogether.
When using one of the slideshow options you can also select from 8 different transition animation styles, as well as 8 slideshow pause durations, ranging from 5 to 12 seconds in length.
We provide you with 12 background accent images, as well as the ability to hide the accent graphic.
If you’re interested in creating a custom slideshow for the banner area, or editing the blank header images, please see the Banners and Slideshows video in the tutorials section above.
All banner images, including the 5 blank banners, are editable with RWmultitool. You can learn more about RWmultitool, as well as download a free version on their site.
The dimensions for the banner images in the Crisp theme are 954 x 300 px.
Background
In addition to the background accents, which are covered in the Header section on this page, we also allow you to change the site background’s color with the RapidWeaver color picker.
Width
Crisp allows you to choose from 6 widths for your site design. Those options range from 990 px to 490 px in 100 px increments. If you choose either the 590 or 490 px widths, the sidebar is automatically hidden in order to avoid clutter and maximize your content space at these smaller widths.
Color picker
The RapidWeaver color picker is a great tool that helps provide a theme with a great deal of flexibility for you as the user. The Crisp theme makes great use of the color picker to allow you to customize many areas of the theme for your site designs. Those areas that are customizable with the color picker are:
• Horizontal Navigation Background
• Horizontal Navigation Text
• Vertical Navigation Text
• Vertical Navigation Highlight
• Body Text
• Links
• Sidebar Links
• Site Background
• Footer Background
• Title Text
• Slogan Text
• Form Field Highlight
• Form Button Color
• Form Button Text
• ExtraContent Area 1 Text
• ExtraContent Area 2 Text
• ExtraContent Area 3 Text
• Footer Text
• Return to Top Button(s) Background
Fonts
Crisp allows you a good deal of flexibility over your site’s font choices. You can choose the following fonts for each of the following areas of your site:
Site Title & Slogan
• Novecento Wide by Jan Tonellato (Synthview)
• Museo Sans
• Museo Slab
• Dancing Script
• Maven
• Chunk Five
• GoodDog
• Georgia
• Helvetica
• Palatino
Body Font & Navigation Font
• Lucida Grande
• Helvetica
• Georgia
• Verdana
You also have the ability to show and hide the site slogan on a page-by-page basis. The site slogan, when enabled, appears just below the banner container and above the main content, in the same general area as the ExtraContent 2 area. The site slogan is hidden by default in the Crisp theme.
Blog
Crisp takes the RapidWeaver blog page to another level. The Crisp theme allows you to place large images above the title of your blog posts. This is a feature found in many other platforms like WordPress, ExpressionEngine and Tumblr, so we thought it time that a similar feature come to a beautiful RapidWeaver theme.
By simply changing the alt tag of an image you can place an image at the top of each individual post. For details on using this feature you will want to watch the tutorial covering the Blog Entry Topper in the tutorials section above.
We think you’re really going to love this new feature as it will add a lot of personality to your site and blog!
Site logo
The site logo, when utilized via RapidWeaver’s Site Setup Pane, appears at the top of the Crisp theme’s sidebar.
The logo image can be up to 200 px wide and as tall as you’d like it to be.
You can toggle the site logo on and off on a page-by-page basis. It is on by default.
ExtraContent
Crisp offers you 3 ExtraContent areas to help break out of the normal RapidWeaver mold.
The first ExtraContent area is located just below the banner image / slideshow within the banner’s outer container.
The second of the ExtraContent areas is located just below the banner container and just above the main content area of the theme.
The third ExtraContent area is located at the base of the theme just below the main content area. This ExtraContent area is inset into the background and has 6 different background style variations.
Be sure to checkout out the live preview site to see all of the ExtraContent areas in action!

This theme comes with snippets that are easy in install and use for:
• Advanced slideshow using RapidWeaver 5’s Resources
• ExtraContent
• Social Badges
Crisp also ships with a plugin for use with Stacks that lets you use ExtraContent on your Stacks pages.
Be sure to checkout our tutorial videos above to see how these snippets are installed, and used. We use these videos to walk you through their use as it is an easier way to present the material as well as it provides a resource for you to go back to in case you ever need a refresher.
Misc
Crisp offers an easy way for your visitors to quickly, and easily get back to the top of long pages. You have the ability to enable some return to top buttons, as well as style their color, with this theme.
You can enable a return to top button for any page that will show up in the footer of the site, by simply clicking a check box in the theme variations. You can also enable a similar feature on your blog pages, with the same simplicity, that will add a return to top button at the bottom right-hand side of each blog entry.
Contact form
In addition to these great photo album styles we’ve also added the ability to allow you to style your contact form to look like an envelope as well.
Form buttons
You can also style your form buttons using the RapidWeaver color picker. You choose a base color and the theme then creates a stylish set of buttons for your form.
Misc
The Crisp theme comes with two Photo Album styles. One option is to use RapidWeaver’s built-in gallery style, which provides a page of photos that when clicked on take you to a new page with the larger photo.
The other option is to have the RapidWeaver photo album work as a lightbox page. For those unfamiliar with the notion of lightbox, it is when you click on an small image and then have the larger image appear, floating on top of the page with a faded out website in the background.
Be sure to look at our live preview site to see the lightbox in action.
The lightbox feature is not compatible with IE 7. Instead of the lightbox, IE 7 users will be presented with the standard RapidWeaver photo album.

Version checker
Crisp offers a brand-new feature that allows you to keep up to date with any theme updates. By just turning on a theme variation the theme displays the relevant information regarding your theme as well as let’s you know how to update it to the latest version, if one is available. Please watch our video on how this version check works to learn more about it.
Supported browsers
Our themes support a wide variety of web browsers. We test each theme in these modern browsers to make sure that your sites will look good, and function properly. We highly suggest Safari on the Mac and PC as it is one of the most standards compliant browsers on the market today.
