Going to be away for Thanksgiving holiday

In need of some time off I'm taking about a week off for the Thanksgiving holiday to spend with family.

I'll only be sporatically checking email and likely not answering any support tickets until I return to work on November 29, 2011.

If you file a ticket and don't hear back from me in my normal quick manner, this is why.

So, I've gotten a little behind on my weekly roundups, partly due to some tight deadlines on getting out the Cake theme as well as my birthday was this past week, and to be honest I took a bit of time off for it. 

To get back into things, this week I'm going to take a look at some inspirational site designs for my weekly roundup. Hope these get your creative juices flowing. 

Great Stacks add-ons for organizing your site

The Stacks plug-in, by YourHead Software, has revolutionized the way in which we as a community build pages in RapidWeaver. Around this great plug-in has sprung up a nice developer community as well. There are tons and tons of Stacks add-ons (originally called slices, but mostly known as lowercase 's' stacks) being designed everyday.

Today I'm going to highlight a few that help in organizing your site in various different manners.

Taking a long Fourth of July weekend trip

Just a quick heads up for everyone -- I'll be taking a long weekend and traveling out of state for the Fourth of July weekend. 

I'll likely not be responding to any support tickets or answering any email while I'm gone. We're leaving Thursday afternoon and will be returning Tuesday evening, so I'll likely get back to work on Wednesday or Thursday of next week.

Looking to not require user registration on the site

Spam, spam, spam. Man do I hate it. 

When I redesigned the site last year I decided to require users to register if they wanted to leave comments. This has worked out perfectly up to this point. We've had great comments from real users and, well, no spam.

That is until last week.

It’s playoff time for the Magic

Getting ready for the NBA Playoffs, which start tomorrow, I thought I'd whip up a desktop wallpaper in support of the home team.

Thurly.net and Ke-we.net set to close down

Spammers ruin it for everyone. That is the lesson to learn here I think.

I'll be closing down the Thurly and Ke-we URL shorteners in the coming month or so. Unfortunately spammers have done their best to use the two services to spread their spam around the internet.
